Several customers have told me they’ve had near “murder the wife” moments, when their Betting PC’s were accidentally interfered with whilst racing is underway.
If anyone has some spare time, would you mind posting your experiences (here), with using cloud based Virtual PCs (VPS).
Can you tell us about :
1. How much you pay,
2. name of provider,
3. Customer service?
4. Would you recommend them ? etcThanks

Until fairly recently I was using the Tagadab VPS for a month or two in order to facilitate a betting bot service that I was a member of.I have to say that I am not tech savvy at all,but as far as I can remember it was a reasonably easy set up process and once connected it worked like a dream exactly as you would expect, with no outages whatsoever, and was a totally hands free experience once set up correctly.
Although by no means the cheapest on the market,it was the one recommended by the bot service as being reliable and with good customer service(although I never needed to contact the support as the set up was fully explained once it was downloaded).
There were 4 different plans to choose from depending on which processor, memory, storage, data transfer was required – again I went with the bots recommendation which was the SVS3000 costing £29.99 per month and that used a 3 core processor,3GB of memory,100GB of storage and 600GB of data transfer. However,if less memory, storage etc is needed there are 2 cheaper plans starting from £9.99.
As that is the only VPS service that I have used I cannot compare them to any others out there, but would definitely recommend them based on my experiences with them.
Here is the link to their website: https://www.simplyhosting.cloud/servers/virtual-private-servers
Out of interest Nick, what sort of processor, memory, storage etc would be recommended for use with your service here.Obviously,if we could get away with the cheapest £9.99 package that would be ideal, but not sure if that would compromise the placing of bets for members at all from your end?
Hope this helps, and would love to hear from other members regarding their VPS experiences.
All the best,
Andrew.04/07/2020 at 17:50 #23597nick257KeymasterThanks Andrew – superb info there..
We’ve run the system on several really old, 2008! spec, refurbished business laptops (from various sellers on eBay for around £150). Typical spec is Intel i5 (3rd generation), dual core, 8gb ram. Model HP 8470p or similar.
I still use several of these laptops today, they were standard issue when I worked for HP, solid machines to this day. So a VPC of similar spec or higher should be fine.
I’ll have a read of the link for “simplyhosting” when time permits – but thanks very much – hope others will contribute their experiences too.
Cheers

As you mention,if the system has worked on those refurbished laptops, then we could possibly get away with one of the cheaper VPS plans.
I have just searched for other possibilities, and have found one which appears to offer more or less the exact same spec as Tagadab.but for around half the price:

I’ve not used them, but could be one for the short list.
Have a great weekend all.

I have tried numerous ones and tagadab is by far the best for price. I have been running my Betangel bot there for the last 6 Months with no issues.
I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a hassle free solution or while at work
