Spreadsheet v1.46 Is available for download

Following feedback today from several new members who’ve had connection issues, please download this updated version of the spreadsheet.

The problems most people have experienced seem to be with a program we use called CURL.EXE – which appears to be missing from older versions of Windows. We’ve now included it in our download.

Please let us know, via this forum if you’re still having issues. And a special thanks to those of you who’ve been in touch today, really appreciate your feedback.

Hi Nick, appreciate the speedy response on trying to get this one fixed.

I still have the issue except it has changed slightly. Within the spreadsheet, the ‘check connection’ function now works and a box comes up saying “Connection OK and membership setup correctly”. This now means my server response box at the bottom of the page seems to be indicating it is working correctly. This was failing on v1.45.

However, when clicking ‘start betting’ or ‘simulate betting’ I am still getting a pop-up saying ‘please update to the latest version’ and in version status ‘Unable to connect to flat-racing.com. Please check you have ‘cURL.exe’ installed.’ Which is the same response as on v1.45.

Hope the feedback helps – happy to guinea pig any further potential remedies if you wish. I’m on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

So close! Thanks for the feedback. Can you copy paste the diagnostic log contents here please? the file is called “Place_Bets_PSM_Ltd_v1.46.log”.

Will try and get this sorted later this afternoon. Will be building a windows 7 machine here, to test with.

Hi Nick, see below. It suggests software is out of date but I downloaded the most recent version of Gruff, and both 1.45 and 1.46 versions of the spreadsheet.

I don’t think it’s anything you’ve done..

I’m building a PC with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit this AM. Can you just confirm what version of MS Office you’re running too?

If you could confirm please, will hopefully have a working version for you tonight, or tomorrow AM,

Morning Nick,

Just to confirm,I have windows 10 PRO 64 BIT on my laptop,so do I still need to download and use the new spreadsheet,or can I just keep the older version?

Also,whilst here,could your spreadsheet and Gruss be run on a VPS?Normal internet connections can sometimes be a pain,so a VPS should solve that problem!

I’ve downloaded v1.46 but still getting this message when I click ‘check connection’:

“Something unexpected happened – you might be missing CURL.exe on your computer.”

Yet here is what the diagnostic log says:

Hi Andrew,

We don’t force immediate updates, but we do ask that you update within 7 days of a the release of a new version.

We operate the 7 day policy, because we want you to have the option of being able to leave the system running unattended, for several days at a time, but we have to set a limit, otherwise, if serious bugs arise, it could be financially detrimental.

A VPS is a great idea, several people have suggested this. Once I know of is “Simply Cloud” (Tagadab). there many be cheaper options…

Ive download latest version v146
put it in my dedicated market folder
And deleted the old v145 version
and all the extracted files are the same as in yr web page.
But the title of the excel is still showing version v145
what have I missed out ?

Hi Brendan,

I think this issue might be caused by the way you’re using Betting Assistant (it’s not easy to understand!).

Basically, before you close Excel, you have to “disconnect” Gruss from Excel (under the “Excel” menu). Otherwise, when you close the spreadsheet, it’s actually still open, behind the scenes! I appreciate this is a bit hard to follow…

If you’re not sure what I mean, try closing Betting Assistant completely first, then close Excel. You should then be able to delete the old version, and apply the new version.

We also released another update tonight, v1.47 is now available for download.

We’ve tested the spreadsheet on Windows 7 Pro, with Excel 2016 (pretty close to what you’re using).

Can you please try the latest version? v1.47 is now available for download
