Morning all,
You’re spreadsheet is probably asking you to “upgrade withing the next 7 days” today.
We released a new version in the early hours, v2.12, this is another attempt to improve the reliability of the tips retrieval system. I think we are narrowing the problem down – but we can’t say for certain that we’ve found the answer yet.
Current thinking, is that the issue is down the the way CURL handles local session/authentication cookies. There is an issue, perhaps with expired sessions, that is causing authentication failures, which we see on the server as HTTP 500 errors. But we don’t have much to go on, as we can’t replicate the problem, and the 500 error is non-specific. This version forces CURL to “junk” pre-existing session cookies, to request a new session with the server – much like closing/reopening your web browser, and request a page again.
As I’ve said before, most of your are getting the tips (we monitor this) – but around 5-10% of you, at random times, are unable to connect. It’s a very strange problem.
Apologies for the continuous flow of spreadsheet updates…
