Hi Paul,
Yes, knew about this workaround… but we can’t risk the wrath of the Exchanges I’m afraid (strictly speaking it’s against their T&C’s). So, sorry, but no, we won’t be implementing this feature.
Cheers
Nicknick257KeymasterHi Paul,
Yes, model congruence reduces the number of bets, but increases the ROI (you win more often, when more models agree on the same runner, the downside is fewer bets). If you are a member of “Smart Betting Club” (?) they have made an in-depth report on our service that explains this further.
There is another option in the spreadsheet that you might like to try… We bet with 6 prediction models, you can leave congruence at “1”, but disable, say 5 of the 6 models. Again, this will result in fewer bets, but will give you a taste of how the system works.
The £2 limit is not enforced by us. This is the Betfair enforced minimum. If you try to submit a win bet with a stake less than £2.00 on Betfair it will be rejected (I might have misunderstood your question here – apologies if so). The minimum stake on BetDAQ is 50p.
Building your bank slowly is a great idea. Again SBC have included a guide on a suggested Bank size (in points), well worth the investment in their joining fee to get access to this report (and see how we compare to other tipsers).
Ref: the refresh rate of 5 seconds… we’ve tested this at lower intervals – unfortunately it causes the spreadsheet code to lock up. This might have been a “feature” of the (intentionally) low spec PC’s we used for testing, by all means try it a try at fast refresh rates, but we can’t guarantee you will always get the tips.
Edit: The recommendation is to use the SP (At present). So the refresh rate is immaterial.
Cheers
Nicknick257Keymasterhi paul, and welcome
there’s a few options open to you.
set the model congruence threshold to 6. then the stake can be £2.00 / 6 = £0.34. this is for betfair
for betDaq.. the minimum is £0.50.. same formula, £0.50 / 6 = stake of £0.09
nick257KeymasterHi Brendan,
Thanks for the question. It really depends on whether you are getting your bets matched (at pre-race prices).
As a rough guide, we think the dual option, is for people betting with stakes in excess of £1000 per race. The idea is that if you’ve not getting regularly matched bets, you could lower your stake sizes, and bet on both Exchanges, for example.
Currently, the Betfair Starting price is beating the pre-race prices, have a look at Pre-Race Market versus Betfair SP.
Cheers
Nicknick257KeymasterThis bug is now fixed in v1.56 of the spreadsheet.
nick257Keymasternick257KeymasterThanks very much Steve. Glad you’re up and running.
We still have a few users with problems – working on fixes in between sleep! 🙂
As for the systems recovery, we will publish some advice on the website in a week or two, but we’re watching these charts to get a sense of when we think it’s back to normal:

Nicknick257KeymasterOne other thing Viktor,
Not sure if this is related, but we have been experiencing some Betfair/Gruss connection issues over the last few days.
If you are using Betfair, you might want to try BetDAQ for a few days – see if it’s more reliable? Just a suggestion.
Cheers

So, you did receive the tips from us… You might have a problem with Gruss Betting Assistant, and/or your internet connection?
The Gruss tool has several log files available. I would start by closing Gruss/ re-opening.
nick257KeymasterHi Viktor,
Can you post in your Bet Log for yesterday please (in the Archive folder)… it should look something like this:

Can you also email me the diagnostic log file too? (it’s too big for this forum), send to nick@flat-racing.com please.
nick257KeymasterOK,v1.53 now available…. It seems to work on Windows 7!
There was a bug, the code kept looking in the wrong place for CURL.exe… It’s fixed.
Thanks for your patience Craig…
Cheers
Nicknick257KeymasterThanks for the Logs… I have replicated the problem now on a Windows 7 PC, using the same folder location you’ve used… Working on a fix.
Cheers
Nicknick257KeymasterHi Steve,
This error occurs when the spreadsheet cannot write to the diagnostic file.
It could mean you haven’t UNZIPped the file, or you might be trying to use the spreadsheet from a cloud drive, i.e. not the hard drive on your PC.
For help unzipping the files, see this Microsoft page.
Version 1.52 has a better error message, to help you understand what might have gone wrong.
Cheers
Nicknick257KeymasterIf anyone feels brave enough, v1.48 of the spreadsheet is available for download.
I’ve added lots more error handling,
- it checks you’re now using OneDrive (or other cloud storage),
- It checks you’re not trying to run the spreadsheet from inside a ZIP file, and
- it checks the CURL files are in the same folder as the spreadsheet.
Cheers
